Wolverine Street Med
Ann Arbor, MI | Aug. 2024

In August 2024, the University of Michigan Chapter of Blueprints for Pangaea (B4P) completed a targeted domestic redistribution of medical supplies to Wolverine Street Medicine (WSM), a volunteer-run organization providing mobile outreach and medical care to individuals experiencing homelessness across Ann Arbor. This shipment, carried out as a national-level delivery, demonstrates the chapter’s ongoing commitment to strengthening health access within its local community.
The shipment was self-sponsored, reflecting a fully student-funded redistribution initiative driven by UMich B4P volunteers. Prepared under the leadership of Shipment Lead Ethan George with oversight from COO/CP Sarah Gallagher, the donation included one box (plastic bin) of essential clinical supplies used in street-level wound care, patient hygiene, and PPE distribution. The container itself was later picked up and preserved for future reuse, aligning with B4P’s sustainability goals.
Transported locally by car, the shipment weighed approximately 20 lbs and carried an estimated valuation of $1,170.63, delivered at zero cost to the receiving organization. The shipment encountered no reported logistical issues and required no special handling.
Wolverine Street Medicine incorporated the donated supplies directly into their weekly outreach routes, supporting medical students, clinicians, and volunteers who provide care in encampments, downtown areas, and shelters. The items were utilized rapidly during late-summer outreach efforts, helping to sustain continuous access to basic wound-care materials and hygiene supplies at a time of high community demand.
The Wolverine Street Med shipment is a strong example of a high-impact, low-cost micro-distribution that directly strengthens frontline care for some of Ann Arbor’s most vulnerable community members. The Wolverine Street Medicine shipment continues to serve as a model for streamlined domestic redistribution, demonstrating how even small-volume donations can generate meaningful, immediate public-health impact.
